It is hard to believe that summer is nearing an end!  School is starting, football is right around the corner, and things are picking back up at the Polish Falcons!  Summertime is usually quieter around the club because members have so many other things going on.  We have had a few fun events happen, including:  Burrito Night, the Tigers bus trip on Polish-American night, a pancake breakfast, the annual golf outing, and the men's Tigers bus trip.  A lot of these events were summarized in our July newsletter, and hopefully you have had an opportunity to read about them (if you were not able to attend).

September is just a couple of days away and we wanted to give you a snapshot of the month's events.  They are as follows:

Wednesday, September 7 at 7:00p.m.:  Social Committee Meeting.  All members are encouraged to attend - these meetings focus on brainstorming ideas for events at the club and working to host different activities.  We know your time is valuable, and participation in these meetings count toward annual volunteer hours.

Saturday, September 10 at 12:00p.m.:  5th Annual Westside Polka Crawl.  OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!  Attendees should arrive to the club around noon and the walk will begin at 1:00p.m.  We have six destinations: Polish Falcons, Jackson Street Hall, Joey's Tavern, Putt Putt's Bar, Laddie's Hall, and Kosciuszko Hall.  Following the stops, everyone will head back to the Falcons where we will have some light refreshments (and of course, more drinks).

Saturday, September 10 at 6:00p.m.:  Live Music by the 6 Pak.  OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!  This falls on the evening of the polka crawl!  We will have food available for purchase.  There is NO cover and donations will be accepted at the door.

Sunday, September 11 at 4:00p.m.:  Lions Season Opener Watch Party.  Members and guests.  Come on down and start the season on a good note or shake off your hangover from the previous day's bar crawl! Game starts at 4:25 PM against the Indianapolis Colts!  Hot dogs will be provided; please bring a snack to share.  There will be an exclusive Lions drink made by our own guest bartender for this special event that you won't want to miss.

Tuesday, September 13 at 7:30p.m.:  Combined Members Meeting.  In lieu of the men's monthly meeting, a combined members meeting will be held for all men members and ladies auxiliary members.  Details regarding Pulaski Days will be discussed during this time.

Tuesday, September 20 at 7:00p.m.:  Ladies Auxiliary Monthly Meeting.  Reminder - raffle tickets are due on this night so please be sure to bring them.

Sunday, September 25 from 8:30a.m. to 12:00p.m.  Pancake Breakfast.  Join us for another pancake breakfast, including pancakes, potato pancakes, eggs, sausage, ham, toast, and beverages.  All you can eat for just $6.  All are welcome - bring the family!

Thursday, October 6 - Sunday, October 9:  PULASKI DAYS!!  This needs no further description - we will see you for our favorite weekend of the year at the club!  A flyer is attached with more specific information on the events.

Great Times at Paint Night!

We have been having a fun month at the Falcons!  So far, a highlight was our Paint Night, which was on February 3.  Our wonderful instructor Shannon from Hearts for the Arts led our group of 35 attendees to painting success.  We have another paint night on the radar and this time the picture will be an old English D (just in time for Tigers season).  More details are on our Facebook page.

We are always looking for more pictures from our various events and activities - if you have any photos you would like to share, please post them to our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/polish.auxiliary) or email them to grfalcons@gmail.com.

Holiday Season!

Believe it or not, holiday season is here!  We have had a lot of fun decorating the hall, even if we chose the one snowy day to do so.  We also had a great party the night before Thanksgiving.  Here are some pictures to share.  Members, stop on down to the club to check out the decorations, grab a bucket of beer, and just relax!  Again, hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 4:00pm to 10:00pm.

PARKING & MEETING!

Please share with those who may not have access to the blog, email, or Facebook.  Also, if you do not receive email updates and would like to have your email address added, please send a message to grfalcons@gmail.com with "Add Me" in the subject line.

A quick note on parking... Beginning Monday, November 30, 2015 there will be no parking at the Polish Falcons facility.  This includes in front of the doors of the garage to the north of our building on Lane. There will be construction workers, equipment including scaffolding, tools, materials and dumpsters on-site. This process could last until the new year. Please find alternate parking locations so that you do not interfere with the construction process or potentially cause damage.

For those who did not receive this email, please see below - there is a special meeting coming up on Tuesday, December 8 at 7:30 p.m.  Attendance is very important for all members!

A short recap of our mandatory joint meeting in Aug. of this year, the membership that was present (64 male members, and 20 Women’s auxiliary members)  made a very clear statement to the Board that they wanted to save the current building and wanted us to proceed with the exterior repairs that were required by The City of Grand Rapids.

Your Board has been pursuing this goal and has gotten the approval from the City, to have installed, cement board siding. We have purchased the materials and have entered into a contract with a professional siding contractor to have the product installed.

The cost of this project has greatly exceeded our original projections of $35,000 - $40,000.00. The current projected cost is $55,000.00.

Our current financial situation will allow us to pay $40,000.00 towards this cost. This will leave approx. $20,000.00 for operating costs which is the absolute minimum we need to keep our club functional.
We have asked the Women’s Auxiliary to contribute to this cause as well.

WE ARE CRITICALLY SHORT OF FUNDS. YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOUR HELP.

The Board is now asking for your financial support to cover this shortfall.
Please attend this meeting with an open mind and financial support. (Early payment of dues will be appreciated). We are required by The City of Grand Rapids to complete this project, and you have expressed your desire to do the same. WE ARE MOVING FORWARD FOR THE FUTURE OF THE POLISH FALCONS AID SOCIETY.

Sincerely,

The Polish Falcon’s Board of Directors
